Teacher: | Katie Tobey | |||
Description: | For this first class on hand stitching we will be using plastic canvas to create tissue box covers. This is a spin on traditional samplers, giving students a chance to practice a variety of stitches with a finished product they can display in their rooms! Plastic canvas is a great starting place due to it's sizing, stiffness, the safely of a blunted needle, etc. making this class appropriate for even fairly young children. However, even more complicated stitches can done on plastic canvas! Older students will have opportunity to design the final panel on graph paper themselves, using stitches they have learned. Younger students will benefit from parental involvement for this class. | |||
