Teacher: | Josh Urbain | |||
Description: | Ready to take your electronics knowledge to the next level? In this course, students will dive into the exciting world of microcontrollers. Build on your understanding of circuits and components as you learn how to program microcontrollers using both a visual programming platform and Python. This hands-on class and lab will cover topics like controlling LEDs, reading data from sensors, and creating interactive projects. Each class will include a short PowerPoint and then a lab involving building electronics projects from images / schematics. By the end of the course, students should have the skills to build their very own microcontroller-powered project. Some basic electronics knowledge suggested, but not necessary. **Students will be expected to physically handle small electronic components and follow instructions regarding placement.** Failure to do this could result in the student not being able to participate during lab time. Get ready to code, create, and innovate! |
|||
Materials provided by the class cost: | Students will have the opportunity to purchase their kit for $15 at the end of the course if they wish to continue exploring microcontrollers.
Media List: | Each class will have a presentation which might include a video to accompany the topic of the class.

Class Name: | Philosophy for Kids | Cost: |
$0 |
|
Teacher: | Katie Tobey | |||
Description: | How can you tell when you know something? Will having fun make you happier than studying? Are numbers and people equally real? In this class we will dive into some of the questions raised in Philosophy for Kids: 40 Fun Questions That Help You Wonder About... Everything! by David White. For each question we will learn a little about the philosopher who first posed the question, their reasoning, and then engage in discussion questions to encourage students to develop their own individual views on the subject. Yes, students, this is your chance to argue and get praised for it! This class naturally builds on the previous logical fallacies class, as students will already be familiar with thinking logically, however it is not a prerequisite. Also note that the author and many of the philosophers included are not Christina but I will encourage students to include basic Biblical theology in their reasoning. |
